‘Double-engine’ govt slower than bullock-cart: Akhilesh
LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday attacked the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh and termed the celebration on completion of its two-and-a-half years as misplaced.
The ‘double-engine’ government could not move even twoand-a-half miles forward. The speed of development and prosperity is no better than a bullockcart,” Akhilesh said.
By ‘double-engine’ he was referring to the same party’s government, both in the state and at the centre. Addressing a press conference here, soon after chief minister Yogi Adityanath finished his press conference on achievements of his government in its 2.5 years, Akhilesh said: “The BJP had shown big dreams and now they are talking about making the country a five-trillion dollar economy. The UP government said that it will contribute one trillion dollars to it. And why not? After all, the PM, the President, a large number of MPs are from Uttar Pradesh. But how can a government that’s busy in framing an opposition leader in a goat theft case be able to make the state one-trillion dollar economy.” Recently, a goat theft case has been filed against Samajwadi Party leader and Rampur MP Azam Khan in Rampur.
Akhilesh asked: “Can the chief minister tell how much investment is required each year in the remaining two-and-half-year term of the government to make the state a one-trillion dollar economy?”
“When, today, the chief minister addressed a press conference, two groups exchanged fire in Unnao. What all has not happened
in these two-and-a-half years -- an Unnao rape victim attempted suicide at the CM’s residence to make herself heard and now a Shahjahanpur woman is struggling for justice.” said Akhilesh, who also screened a TV channel’s news story on BJP leader Swami Chinmayanand case wherein a Shahjahanpur girl has also accused him of rape.
“Murders, rapes, loots, lynchings, custodial death are now an everyday affair,” Akhilesh said.
