St Agnes, Little Angels girls in semis

LUCKNOW:St Agnes Loreto and Little Angels girls marched into the team championsh­ips semi-finals of the Inter-School Table Tennis, notching up identical wins, at the UPTTA Complex here on Friday.

St Agnes defeated Navayuga Radiance ‘C’ by 2-0, whereas Little Angels beat Navayuga Radiance ‘B’ also by 2-0. In the boys section, Harichand Inter College beat St Fidelis by 2-0, and Jaipuria School ‘A’ beat LPS Sec. ‘A’ also by 2-0 to make it to the semifinals.

RESULTS Boys (quarterfin­als):

Harichand Inter College beat St. Fidelis by 2-0 (Manraj Singh bt Samarth Tiwari 11-7, 11-8, Divyansh Srivastava bt Darsh Sati 11-3, 11-6);

Jaipuria School ‘A’ beat LPS Sec. ‘A’ 2-0

(Aman Rastogi bt Deepanshu 10-12, 11-2, 11-1, Atharv Shukla bt Akshat 11-6, 11-7.)

Girls (quarterfin­als):

Little Angels beat Navayuga Radiance ‘C’ by 2-0 (Gungun Sahu beat Gauri 11-4, 11-3, Khushi beat Krishika 11-3, 11-3); St Agnes Loreto beat Navayuga Radiance ‘B’ by 2-0 (Uttsavi bt Mannat 11-3, 11-1, Tashvi bt Yashasvi 14-12. 12-10).

SELECTED

Judoka Nutan Sharma, who has been under the Khelo India scheme at the Regional Centre of the Sports Authority of India, has been selected in the Indian squad to participat­e in the Commonweal­th Judo Championsh­ip, scheduled to be held at Walsall, Great Britain from September 25 to 30.

Interestin­gly, Nutan has been a wrestler, and has won medal in the junior national wrestling championsh­ip too.

Only recently, she took up judo and proved her talent in this game too.

FINE SHOW

Trainees of Cantt held their dominance by winning five gold, one silver and two bronze medals in the district level junior boys and girls taekwondo competitio­n, at the Chowk Stadium here on Friday. Anarv Pathania, Prakhar, Ujjwal,

Varuka, Ayan, Shubham Sharma, Mahaswini, Farina, Ekta and Kashish were the gold medal winners in different categories.

SCHOOL CRICKET

The Ashamegh Srijan Twnety2Int­er School Tournament under the auspices of the Cricket Promotion Group begins on October 2, at the LDA Stadium here. Organising secretary, Sameer Mishra informed that last date of entry is September 28.

He also informed that matches would also be played at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium..

“The event aims to let the youngsters feel the excitement of Twenty20 cricket,” he states.
