Masters aquatics set to see huge participation
LUCKNOW: Around 1500 participants from all parts of the country are expected to be seen in action during the 16th Masters National Aquatics Championship, being organized first time in the state capital from October 18. All the 13 swimming events will take place at the Sports Authority of India’s regional centre, whereas the diving events are slated at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium pool. The threeday championship is open for both men and women aged between 25 to 80 years.

Hosts Uttar Pradesh advanced to the third round of the team championship at the 43rd All India Electricity Board Tennis Championship, defeating Madhya Pradesh 2-0, at the Gomti Nagar Mini Stadium here on Wednesday.
Dev Ashish Tilak crushed Tansukh 8-1 in the first singles, before former UP champion Alok Bhatnagar brushing aside Shakeel also by 8-1 in the second singles.
In other matches of the day, Kerala beat Gujarat 2-0, Punjab beat KPTSL 2-0 and Tamil Nadu beat Chhattisgarh also by 2-0.
FINE BATTING
Javed struck 44-ball 61 with the help of six fours and four sixes as Gurnan Cricket Academy defeated Unity Sports Academy by seven wickets in a league match of the 1st Independence Trophy, at the NER Stadium here on Wednesday.
