Case against 44 for anti-govt slogans
VARANASI : Bhadohi police registered a case against 44 persons, including 14 named and 30 unidentified ones, for allegedly raising slogans against the UP government on Sunday. They were protesting after the students’ union election was cancelled at Kashi Naresh Government Post Graduate College recently, police said.
The case was registered at Gyanpur police station. The students’ union elections were cancelled by the district administration following heavy rain.
Thereafter, a group of students led by Luvkush Yadav, who was in fray for the post of student union president, took out a march and shouted slogans against the state government.
A video of the protest and slogan-shouting went viral on social media on Saturday. Rashtriya Brahman Yuvjan Sabha district unit president Ambarish Tiwari and his supporters reached the police station and brought the video to the notice of the police. He demanded that a case be registered against the group of students participated in the march.
Thereafter, a case under section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), section 143 (unlawful assembly) and section 504 (intentional insult) was filed against Luv Kush Yadav, Sachin Yadav, Manoj Yadav, Vikas Yadav, Rishabh Srivastava, Sohit Ravat, Rakesh Kumar Maurya, Sonu Saroj, Manish Yadav, Santosh Yadav, Jasim Ahmad, Ajay Yadav, Rakesh Yadav, Mahendra Yadav and 30 unidentified for using abusive language against the chief minister during the march and for shouting anti-government slogans.
SHO Chhavinath Singh said the matter was being probed and accused will be arrested.
