Abhas Jindal bags chess title
LUCKNOW : Young Abhas Jindal emerged victorious in the International Rating District Senior Open Chess Championship, securing 5.5 points here on Monday. In the sixth and the final round at table no 1 Abhas split points with Divyansh Pandey, playing a draw and secured first position.
Anuj Yadav defeated Somesh Srivastava, on the third table Kamlesh Kumar Kesarwani defeated Pranav Rastogi and on the fourth table Sanyam Srivastava defeated Faraz Khalid.
Divyansh Pandey and Anuj Yadav both scored five points each but in the tie-break score, Divyansh stood second, pushing Anuj to the third position. Sanyam Srivastava and Kamlesh Kesarwani finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Now, the district team will participate in the UP State Senior Chess Championship, scheduled to be held in Ghaziabad from October 4 to 7.
CRICKET ARENA
Monday marked the launching of EK Sports (all weather cricket arena) Indoor Cricket Club, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, in the Transport Nagar here at the Kanpur Road.
The facility of indoor cricket net has been provided in the club with two bowling machines and batting cages, states club’s director Sandeep Chhabra,. There is a separate lane for batting and bowling practice and now cricketers can play cricket anytime, regardless of the bad weather. There is also a black and white side screen with proper lighting.

Aryan Juyal of Uttar Pradesh has been selected in the I ndian squad for the Emerging Asia Cup, scheduled to be held in Bangladesh in November.
Juyal had two half centuries in the recently concluded fiveODI home series between the Under-23 teams of India and Bangladesh in Lucknow.
