VARANASI: : Vijay Rajbhar, an RSS Swayamsevak and son of a vegetable seller, is a happy man for having been given the opportunity to contest the Ghosi byelection, to be held on October 21, as a BJP candidate.

“I am thankful to the party leadership for showing trust in me,” Vijay says while adding that he understands the pain of poverty and would try to eliminate the same from his constituency.

Vijay’s father Nand Lal Rajbhar owns a vegetable shop in Mau. An ardent fan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rajbhar says, “I am highly inspired by PM Modi who works very hard. I want to do the same for my people.”

He says that he joined the BJP because it is the most democratic party wherein son of a vegetable seller could also get an opportunity to contest assembly election.

Vijay never expected that he would be the candidate of the BJP for the bypolls and as a party worker he was busy with campaigning preparations in favour of the party candidate when he got the information that he is the candidate.

Vijay says, “I couldn’t believe for the first few seconds. I informed my father who was at the shop. Everyone in the family were happy and thanked the party leadership.”

Vijay was elected as a councilor from Sahadatpura Mohalla of Mau in the local body election in 2012. He is a graduate in arts from DCSK Degree College.

He joined the BJP and became a fulltime worker five years back. Since then he never looked back.

He is considered close to UP cabinet minister Anil Rajbhar.

Vijay says, “If he wins, he will be the first one in his family to become an MLA”. He says, “I started attending the Shakha at the age of 10 and learnt discipline and commitment to work for the people selflessly,” he adds.
