VARANASI BRIDGE SHUTTERING FALLS, 1 INJURED
VARANASI : One person was injured when a portion of the shuttering of the under-construction Chaukaghat-Lahartara flyover fell on Friday, a senior official of the Uttar Pradesh Bridge Corporation said. A passerby Kuldip Rai, who was hurt in the mishap, was rushed to the divisional hospital from where he was rushed to the Trauma Centre. Two girders of the same bridge had collapsed on May 15, 2018, killing as many as 15 people.

UP State Bridge Corporation is constructing the bridge. Deputy project manager AK Singh said moulding (construction) work was in progress when a portion of shuttering suddenly fell near Cantt railway station. “We are trying to find out the cause behind this. All safety measures are being followed in the construction,” he said adding, “Strict action would be ensured against officials on duty at the construction site them in case any dereliction on their part comes to fore.”
Two girders of the same bridge had collapsed on May 15, 2018, killing as many as 15 people. Thereafter, action was taken against more than a dozen officials of the UP State Bridge Corporation.
