Students display innovative science models
LUCKNOW: A five-day science exhibition by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), a division of the department of science and technology, India, was inaugurated here on Monday.
According to SKD Singh, chairman of SKD Group, UP ministers Swami Prasad Maurya and Rajendra Pratap Singh inaugurated the event in the presence of others and interacted with the students, who would be exhibiting their science models during the five-day event at SKD Academy, Gomti Nagar.
The objective of the programme is to motivate students to choose science as career and to bring out their hidden talents, said Singh in a press statement.
On this occasion, Dr Vinod Kumar (professor, department of zoology, Delhi University), Dr Mewa Singh (chief editor Indian Academy of Sciences), Dr Bhanu Pratap Singh (consultant at Science Engineering and Research Board, Delhi), Dr HKN Trivedi (eminent scientist and mathematician), Dr Shaily Malik (assistant professor department of zoology, Lucknow University) were among those who were present at the inaugural function.
“To overcome the problem of air pollution, we have designed a machine which is based on two filters-- mechanical filter (cyclone) and electrostatic precipitator which reduces air pollution and temperature. This machine is efficient and it should be installed in every automobile which will eventually improve air quality,” said students of the SKD Academy, who displayed their models at the exhibition.
The project was made and presented by Ram Dev Chaturvedi, Vibhu Vikram Singh, Om Pratap Singh, Hastakshar Pratap Singh and Aaditya Singh of the academy. The event comprises interactions, experiments and demonstrations. “During five days, students will get an opportunity to communicate with renowned scientists, which will help them make up their minds to choose right career and bring out hidden talents,” Singh added.
