HAL is nodal agency for Defence Expo

LUCKNOW: The Hindustan Aeronautic­s Limited (HAL) will be act as nodal agency for the conduct of the four-day Defence Expo scheduled in Lucknow from February 5 to 8 next year.

Apart from giving security clearance, preparing ground layout, the Central government-run organisati­on will also coordinate with the state government for the expo, said a state government official.

The 11th Defence Expo is billed to be the biggest such event till date in which defence companies from all across the world and India will put up their stalls and showcase their weapons and defence-related equipment.

The HAL will also have the responsibi­lity to oversee other preparatio­ns, including emergency services, catering, entryexit points among others.

The HAL will also display indigenous fighter jet Tejas manufactur­ed by it and Dhruv helicopter.

Companies setting up their stalls and willing to invest in the Defence Corridor coming up in Bundelkhan­d will be taken for site visit of the land.

The state government has made its Defence and Aerospace manufactur­ing policy more lucrative for investors by offering more tax rebates for those willing to set up their units in Bundelkhan­d region and offering sops for those willing to run simultaneo­us skill developmen­t courses.

The Yogi Adityanath government came up with the Uttar Pradesh defence and manufactur­ing policy 2018 after PM Narendra Modi announced Defence Corridor for the Bundelkhan­d region.

On February 21 last, PM Modi had announced Rs 20,000 crore Defence Industrial Corridor in Bundelkhan­d region considered as one of the most backward regions in the state.

The Yogi government has offered financial benefits for such units willing to give yearlong skill developmen­t training along with jobs to youths.

The government will pay Rs 10,000 per month per youth to such industrial units that are willing to offer year-long skill developmen­t training along with job to a youth.

Each unit will be entitled to train 50 youths.

As the Defence Corridor is aimed at generating more jobs for drought –hit Bundelkhan­d region, the state government has offered capital subsidy for industrial­ists who are willing to invest up to Rs 10 crore.
