LUCKNOW : Young Dhruv Chand Jurel smashed a fine half-century, whereas Rishabh Bansal took four wickets to help former champions Uttar Pradesh continue their winning streak in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, crushing Hyderabad by 50 runs in an Elite Group B match at Surat on Tuesday.

India under-19 batsman from Agra, Jurel’s 88-ball 79, which contained five fours and equal number of sixes at the Vishal Cricket Ground helped Uttar Pradesh post 220/6 in 50 overs while batting first after winning the toss.

In reply, Hyderabad batsmen found slow bowler Rishabh a tough nut to crack before being bundled out for 170 in 44 overs. Nadeem and Kritagya K Singh shared four wickets between them.

With match being abandoned due to rain this season, this was UP’s third consecutive win in as many as matches. Despite losing opener Anchit Yadav (22, 29b, 4x4) early in the game, Uttar Pradesh batsmen never let their aggression down, and kept stroking the ball nicely.

They were 4/91 in 27.2 overs once, but this didn’t make a difference to Jurel, who went to stitching together 51-run for the fifth wicket with Ansh Yadav (12).

But his 73-run sixth wicket stand with Kritagya K Singh made a big difference as the two helped the side cross 200-run mark.

Jurel was caught by Dibesh off Mohd Abdul Anand, but Singh remained unbeaten at 31, which came off just 28 balls with the help of four boundaries and a six. Hyderabad skipper Dibesh used as many as seven bowlers, including himself and six of them had a wicket each.

In contrast to UP innings, Hyderabad had a sound start with openers Nitish Reddy and A Viashnav Reddy stitching together 96 runs on a good strike rate for the first wicket. But once Jurel stumped Vaishanv (44, 66b, 6x4) off Nadeem, the wickets started tumbling line nine pins from the other end.

Nitish’s effort too came to an end when Rishabh had his catch off Kritagya. He made 38 in 78 balls with the help of three fours. Eight Hyderabad batsmen could even reach in the double figure mark.

Rishabh finished with 4/28, whereas Kritagya (2/26) and Nadeem (2/29) shared four wickets between them. UP now play
