PRAYAGRAJ: Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel said that the government has failed on all fronts and development was seen only in the speeches of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders. He said the BJP government was doing everything for the comfort of capitalists instead of the common man who had voted it to power.

Addressing a public meeting in Kandharpur locality of Pratapgarh on Thursday to seek support for Congress candidate Neeraj Tripathi in forthcoming by poll of Sadar assembly constituency, Baghel said the present Union government had put cash reserves of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in the hands of capitalists. He said the government was out to suppress the poor and needy and anyone raising his voice or asking a question faced getting a case lodged against him.

Referring to the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, Baghel said that he feared that as Jammu and Kashmir had been reduced to a centreruled territory, the BJP government for its gain could also make the country’s largest state of Uttar Pradesh into a centreruled territory.

Lashing out at the Yogi Adityanath government, the Chhattisgarh CM said that the UP government was exploiting farmers and the poor. Harsh treatment was meted out to sufferers who raised their voice, he said, adding that in UP, Rs 1,700 was paid to farmers for a quintal of paddy, while in Chhattisgarh, for the same quantity of paddy, Rs 2,500 was given to farmers.

He said that due to the sad state of cow welfare centres in UP, cows had become more miserable while cow shelter keepers had gained from the scheme.

Comparing his 10-month government in Chhattisgarh to the two-and-half year government of BJP in UP, Baghel said that the Yogi government’s only achievement was deterioration in law and order and BJP leaders being held guilty of rape, loot and murder.
