LUCKNOW Opener Radha Yadav smashed a superb century on Thursday as former champions Uttar Pradesh claimed the day one honours in their three-day Central Zone Vijay Maerchant Trophy against Cricket Association of Uttarakhand, at the Aligarh Muslim University Ground in Aligarh.

Yadav’s 246-ball 180, which contained 26 boundaries, helped Uttar Pradesh post 335 in 88 overs in their first innings. A 75-run third wicket stand between Yadav and Mehtab Amaan (17, 22b, 1x4) further bolstered UP’s innings. ANJALI SHINES

Fine bowling by Anjali Singh (4/17) and Aditi Sharma (2/24) helped favourites Uttar Pradesh notch up a convincing six-wicket win against Punjab in the Senior Women’s T30 Trophy, at the Ravenshaw University Ground in Cuttack on Thursday. This was UP’s third win in as many as matches.

Both Anjali and Aditi bowled at tandem as Punjab could score 11/8 in 20 overs while batting first after winning the toss. Openers Zaman Akhter (20) and Priyanka Singh (36) stitched together 40 runs for the first wicket, but once the two departed in quick succession, the wickets started falling on regular intervals.

In reply, Uttar Pradesh despite losing two quick wickets for 20 in 3.4 overs, romped home with seven balls to spare, losing only four wickets. A 68-run third wicket stand between Anita Lodhi (37) and Aditi Sharma (38) made things easy.
