This promising shooter is gunning for licence!
LUCKNOW : Young shooter Pranshul Sharma has the ability to hit the bull’s eye and that too with perfection but with a barrowed gun as the boy doesn’t have his own rifle to take the aim even in training.
Two-time state champion in big bore rifle event in Uttarakhand Shooting Championship, Pranshul keeps waiting for his Guddu uncle who gives him his gun for events.
No one had expected him to have a podium finish when he shot his first bullet in the 50m prone rifle at the 18th Uttarakhand state championship this year. But the 18-year-old boy from Muzzafanagar shot 288/300 to finish on top.
“I could have shot 298 if I had my own gun. For the last oneand-a-half years, I am struggling to get my licence so that I could have my own weapon but to no avail so far,” a dejected Pranshul said on Thursday.
“I don’t know what problem the district administration has in issuing my licence. Every passing day without my own gun is quite frustrating,” he added.
“When you aim with your gun, you always get a perfect shot. Issue of a barrowed gun always remains in my mind and sometimes it hurts my performances too,” said Pranshul who would be defending his interuniversity gold next month. In the last edition, he had won a gold medal with a score of 93/100.
Son of a former shooter, Pranshul, a trainee at the 10.9 shooting and sports club at Patel Nagar in Muzaffarnagar, got to know about the guns only two years ago when he was asked by his father to try his hands at it.
“When I shot the first time, I felt thrilled and excited. Thereafter, there was no looking back,” said Pranshul, who has his own style of holding the gun with a slight tilt.
