LUCKNOW :The Lucknow Electricity Supply Administration ( LESA) has set up special control room for its consumers to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Diwali.

GM cis-Gomti LESA Madhukar Varma said, “LESA has made all preparations and maintenance of power lines and checking of all the feeders is complete. Special care is being taken in areas where the transformers are overloaded.”

He said the residents could call on 8005489863 and 052204011360, 1912 to register their complaint of power cut during the festival.

In all, UPPCL has made arrangement of more than 160 trolley mounted transformers which would reach within 30 minutes in case any transformer is damaged on the day of the festival.

There are 26 divisions of LESA in Lucknow and every division would be given six transformers each for replacement of damaged transformers on that day.

This year bigger transformers from 5 to 10 MVA are also kept ready in case of technical snag.

All the substations are connected with at least two source of power supply.

MD Madhyanchal Sanjay Goel said, “An executive engineer has been posted at the control

room for taking care of complaints of consumers.”

More than 18,000 transformers have undergone maintenance to minimize the chances of power cuts during the festival.

Madhukar Varma said, “Usually demand of power hovers around 900 MW in the state capital but during Diwali there is a drop of around 15% due to closure of industrial units, schools, colleges , offices and change in weather. Despite that, capacity of substations has also been increased just to ensure that the consumers are not left without power during the festival.”
