Buy Indian, contribute to nation’s growth: PM
VARANASI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday appealed to countrymen and his party workers to buy locally-made things for the next three years to mark ongoing 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi.
He said the move will contribute to the development of the nation in a big way. The PM expressed these views while interacting with BJP workers of his parliamentary constituency through NaMo app.
Starting his interaction with Diwali greetings, the PM talked about transformation in Varanasi and how development projects were ensuring positive change here. Later, he answered queries of the BJP workers.
In reply to a question asked by BJP worker Bhaskar Kesari about how people could spread the ideas of The Father of the Nation, the PM said, “Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary is a very important occasion for the entire country. There are certain occasions that inspire us. This is one such.” “The whole country is insp ired by Bapu. It wants to do something in his honour. Bapu talked of Swawalamban (self-sufficie ncy) and Swadeshi (indigenous). I want to tell my countrymen to take resolution to buy locallymade things for the next three years that is till 2022 when the country completes 75 years of freedom. Buy local things which are produced in your hometown,” Modi said.
The PM also appealed to the party workers to ensure that benefits of various welfare schemes were actually reaching the people who deserved them. “We have to complete all that development which country should have rece ived in the last 70 years. People should realise that their destiny is changing positively,” he said. When another party worker Akhilesh Pathak asked about the KV corridor project, the PM said, “The project is taking place with the blessings of Baba Kashi Vishwanath Himself.”
Modi said the by-lanes of Kashi added to the beauty of the city. He said Rani Ahilyabai Holkar had got the KV temple rejuvenated more than 200 years ago, adding that he was making efforts to add to the facilities at the world-famous temple. On cleanliness, he said, “It is not merely a project. It is not about tokenism. It is about behavioural change. This movement must go on,” Modi said. He also appealed to party workers to honour daughters for their achievements and success.
