5-year-old girl raped in Para, critical

LUCKNOW : A five-year-old girl who was raped by a 26-year-old man in Para on Diwali day is battling for her life . Police have arrested the accused and started investigation in the matter.

The girl, first born of a daily wage owner was lured by a friend of her father on Diwali night with a promise of crackers and sweets. According to police, the accused took the girl to a secluded spot and raped her.

“The incident occurred around 11 pm on October 27. The parents of the girl came to know about the incident when they noticed her bleeding ,” said circle officer (CO) of the area Lal Pratap Singh, on Tuesday.

“The family reached the police station on October 28. The girl was also sent to hospital for medical examination . The accused Sunil has been arrested,” he added.

Based on the complaint lodged by the girl’s father, police have registered an FIR for rape under relevant sections of POCSO (Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences) Act against the accused.

Meanwhile, the minor girl has been shifted to the King Geprge’s Medical University (KGMU). According to hospital sources, she suffered severe internal injuries and her condition remains critical.

The accused is a mason and knew the father of the girl for many years. The duo also worked together for close to two years in Ambala before moving to Lucknow. On Diwali day he visited the house of the victim to meet her father. He stayed there for a while before returning .

“He found the girl playing outside and lured her ,” said station house officer (SHO) of Para police station Triloki Singh.
