Dengue unrelentin­g, 42 fresh cases in city

LUCKNOW : Forty-two fresh dengue cases were reported in the state capital on Saturday, taking the total number of cases to 1509, the highest among all other districts reporting dengue cases in the state.

The state capital has also reported six out of the total 9 deaths that took place due to dengue in the state.

On Saturday, dengue cases were reported from Chowk, Kaiserbagh, Daliganj, Aliganj, Balaganj, Malihabad, Talkatora, Chinhat, Vrindavan Colony, Bangla Bazaar, Indira Nagar and Virat Khand in Gomti Nagar.

Notices were served at 25 places where the health teams found conditions conducive for mosquito breeding. The teams inspected 2,050 places in the city during the day.

Chief medical officer (CMO) Dr Narendra Agrawal who was on a surprise inspection at the Kakori community health centre found medical officer Dr Nahid J Khan and the x-ray technician Jaya Singh absent from duty and demanded explanatio­n from both.

and Indiranaga­r are reporting dengue cases every day. Teams have been asked to focus these areas and the nagar nigam has been told to ensure fogging at these places as well as in the other areas from where cases are reported, ” said a senior health officer.

CMO Dr Narendra Agrawal said in a press statement that at all places where mosquito larva was found, source reduction exercise was done by the health teams.

The state capital has reported maximum 1467 dengue cases this season out of the total 5724 reported in the state. Prayagraj reported 234 cases, Varanasi 178, Kanpur 1169, Saharanpur 216 dengue cases.
