LUCKNOW : Sunil Pal and Aman scored two goals each as favourites Karampur lifted their maiden trophy at the KL Garg-JL Sharma Memorial State SubJunior Boys Hockey Tournament, outplaying Varanasi’s Vivek Academy 4-1, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium here on Tuesday.

Bound to play on muddy ground of the state government’s premier stadium in the state capital, Karampur boys proved their might in style, dominating the 60-minute duel from the very start even after failing to score in the first two quarters.

Things changed dramatically after a change in the ends when pal had his first field goal in the 34th minute (1-0), before netting his second two minutes later (2-0). However, the two goal lead allowed Karampur boys to raise their attacks and now it was Aman’s turn to come into flying colours, netting a goal each in the 40th and 49th minutes, respectively.

Desperate attempts to reduce the margin helped Vivek Academy to score a solitary goal when Rahul Patel sounded the board four minutes before the hooter.
