■ NOV 17, 2019: Three armed assailants shot dead Shahnawaz, 40, who was accused of the murders of property dealer and BSP leader Haji Ehsaan and his nephew Shadab in Najibabad on May 28, 2019, inside the courtroom in Bijnor. The incident happened when chief judicial magistrate, along with over a dozen lawyers, was present in the courtroom.
■ FEB 28, 2019: Advocate Jagnarayan Yadav, 63, was shot dead on the court campus in Basti district. Two assailants fired at him when he was working in his chamber.
■ MAR 11, 2015: A sub-inspector shot dead a 30-year-old lawyer Nabi Ahmed on the district court premises in Prayagraj after an argument.
■ JUN 9, 2014: A BJP leader from Sultanpur and his brother were attacked at a court in Faizabad. Crude bombs were hurled at former MLA Chandrabhadra Singh alias Sonu Singh and his brother Monu Singh when the duo appeared as the accused in a criminal court in Faizabad.
■ APR 24, 2008: Nine people, including Samajwadi Party MLA Chandra Bhadra Singh, his brother Yash Bhadra Singh, his associate Vijay Yadav — all accused in a murder case— besides three policemen and three advocates were injured when unidentified assailants hurled two crude bombs at the MLA at the district court building in Prayagraj.
■ AUG 9, 2012: Bomb scare after recovery of five crude bombs from a teapot placed inside district court building in Lucknow.
■ NOV 23, 2007: Serial blasts in district and sessions court in Lucknow, Faizabad and Varanasi on November 23, 2007.
At least 15 people were killed and 70 others injured during serial blasts at the courts of Faizabad and Varanasi while no causalities were reported in Lucknow.
■ JUN 29, 2005: The then station officer of Cantonment police station Anita Chauhan was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon by a man on the Allahabad (now Prayagraj) district court premises for resisting his sexual advances.
■ AUG 7, 2002: Mafiosi-turned-politician and then an independent MLA Atiq Ahmad suffered minor injuries along with a sub-inspector and a constable when a crude bomb was hurled at him on the district court premises in Prayagraj while being taken for a hearing.
