ASHISH, SATISH IN SQUAD FOR TOKYO QUALIFIERS ISL reschedules six games
BENGALURU: Asian silver-medallist Ashish Kumar (75kg) and Satish Kumar (+91kg) booked their places in the Indian men’s boxing squad for next year’s Olympic qualifiers, while comeback man Vikas Krishan (69kg) advanced to the finals on the opening day of the trials here on Sunday. Ashish defeated reigning national champion and South Asian Games gold-medallist Ankit Khatana in a unanimous verdict to be assured of a spot in the squad for the Asia/Oceania zone qualifiers in China, scheduled from February 3 to 14. Satish won with a split verdict against Narender.
Joining the two was Sachin Kumar, who claimed the 81kg spot with a victory over Brijesh Yadav. Commonwealth Games gold-medallist Vikas Krishan, who quit the professional circuit after an injury breakdown earlier this year, moved into the final with a unanimous win over Ashish Kulheria. He will face Duryodhan Negi in the final on Monday. Negi defeated Naveen Boora in a split decision. Amit Panghal (52kg) and Manish Kaushik (63kg) have already claimed their place in the team.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Super League has rescheduled six games due to various factors. According to a statement, the game between
NorthEast United FC and Chennaiyin FC, which was postponed on December 12 due to CAA protests in Guwahati, will now be played on February 25. The match against Jamshedpur FC has been moved from January 2 to February 10 “due to non-availability of the stadium” because of Khelo India Youth Games, to be held at the venue from January 2 to 22. The orgainsers have also swapped the games between Chennaiyin FC and Bengaluru FC (scheduled on Feb 7) and North East United FC vs Kerala Blasters FC (scheduled on Feb 9). The match between Hyderabad FC and Jamshedpur FC, on February 12, has been moved to February 13, while the February 13 match between FC Goa and Mumbai City FC has been moved to February 12.
