Record spl lectures on YouTube, LU V-C tells teachers
LUCKNOW: Lucknow University vice-chancellor Alok Kumar Rai on Friday asked all departments to start a YouTube channel documenting lectures by invited dignitaries on various topics. He suggested that these channels be marketed properly to enhance the brand value of the university.
Rai said this at a felicitation programme organised by the Lucknow University Teachers’ Association to welcome him. The vice-chancellor had taken charge in December 2019.
The V-C emphasised that the focus of any educational institute should be students.
“Therefore, every institute must have a student- centric structured framework. The first step to achieve that is the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), which is being worked upon by the faculties of this university,” he added.
The vice-chancellor also said that CBCS was among the first of many such steps to be taken keeping in mind the welfare of student.
The University of Lucknow had decided to introduce CBCS in all post-graduate programmes from the new session, as per the UGC guidelines. At present, CBCS is prevalent only in M Sc and MBA courses.
“Through this system, students will be given the option to study intra departmental elective courses and also study some courses through the Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC), for which the credits will be transferred to the parent programme,” he added.
He stressed on maintaining a positive environment in the university and appealed to teachers to dedicate office hours to students.
He also announced that 2,600 saplings would be planted on the campus grounds on Republic Day in an attempt to reduce LU’s carbon footprint.
