Woman’s naked body with face burnt found in Bahraich
LUCKNOW: In a shocking incident, the naked body of an unidentified woman in her 20s was found with the face partially burnt in Khair jungle in Murtia village of Bahraich district adjacent to Lakhimpur Kheri and bordering Nepal on Saturday.
Police came to know about it after locals informed them after spotting the body. “It seems the face was burnt, may be by some chemical to hide her identity,” said Bahraich SP Gaurav Grover. “There is no other injury marks on the body,” he added. “Post-mortem examination and other investigation will ascertain whether the woman was raped or not. A special investigation team (SIT) has been formed under deputy superintendent of police, Naupara, having two inspectors as members to probe the case,” the SP said.“The SIT will scan the missing complaints filed in neighbouring police stations in last 7-10 days,” the SP added.
“We have circulated the photo of the woman to neighbouring police stations as well as those of Lakhimpur Kheri. We have also asked the police stations to scan the record whether they have received any missing complaint,” SP Grover said.“We are investigating the case from all aspects. Only a stole was around her neck and probably she was strangled with that stole. We are not ruling out any angle but we can anything with certainty only after the post-mortem report comes,” said a senior cop.
Meanwhile, the police have registered a murder case.
“POST-MORTEM EXAMINATION AND OTHER INVESTIGATION WILL ASCERTAIN WHETHER THE WOMAN WAS RAPED OR NOT.”
