LUCKNOW: Fearing separation from her four-month-old son, a 24-year-old woman ended her life in Pawanpuri locality under Alambagh police station limits here on Monday night. Police arrested the husband after registering an FIR of dowry death and domestic violence against six people on Tuesday.

Assistant commissioner of police (ACP) of Alambagh police circle, Lal Pratap Singh said the complainant Wasim Bano accused Asif, the husband of her daughter Shahgufta, 24, (the deceased), his father Munna, mother Parveen, and three sisters Tanveer, Pummy and Reena for the death of the woman. “The accused have been booked under Indian Penal Code section 304-B for dowry death, 498-A for domestic violence and 3/4 dowry prevention act,” the ACP said.

He said Wasim Bano mentioned that her daughter was married to Asif around 1.5 years ago and they had four-month-old son from their marriage. He said Shahgufta relations were strained with Asif for last one year over dowry demands and earlier also they had confrontation between them. The ACP said, “The deceased woman’s husband has been arrested after registering an FIR and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination and its report is awaited. Further action will be taken accordingly.”
