LUCKNOW: One person has been isolated while two have been put under observation in Uttar Pradesh for showing flu-like symptoms, said principal secretary (health) Devesh Chaturvedi.

Besides, one person each in Ghaziabad and Ghazipur has been put under observation in their houses for showing similar symptoms.

Meanwhile, state health minister JP Singh held a meeting of health officials to review the situation. He said that the government has already issued detailed directions. The government has also asked those who have visited China in the last 14 days, to report to state hospitals for a check-up to ensure they are not carrying the virus. They should be monitored for four weeks, said the order. Six Nepal districts are on an alert and scanning is on at the borders, he said.

As per the six-point directives, all the districts have been asked to activate quick-reaction teams.

Hospitals have been asked to ensure the availability of isolated beds, equipped with all facilities.

Officials have been asked to admit patients separately who have come into contact with people who visited China in the last 14 days and have symptoms of coronavirus. Besides, hospitals have to send all details on a daily basis to the district surveillance officials.

Health department officials in Ghaziabad said they have quarantined and isolated a 27-year-old woman as a precautionary measure after she recently returned to

India from China and had earlier developed fever and cough symptoms during her stay in China. The officials said that the woman denied being kept in isolation at Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) hospital in Delhi as well as at MMG Government hospital in Ghaziabad.

According to the health department officials, the woman is a resident of East Delhi and had been staying with friend’s family at their flat in Ghaziabad since January 28.

They added that upon information of her arrival, a team visited their place and an advanced life support ambulance took the woman to RML Hospital in Delhi.

“Her sample was taken at RML hospital and expected to arrive within next two days. She has shown no symptoms about any possibility of Coronavirus but we have taken precaution since the virus outbreak in China from where she arrived.

She refused being kept in isolation at RML and even at MMG Hospital in Ghaziabad where we have a special isolation ward,” said Dr NK Gupta, chief medical officer.

OFFICIALS HAVE BEEN ASKED TO ADMIT PATIENTS SEPARATELY WHO HAVE COME INTO CONTACT WITH PEOPLE WHO VISITED CHINA IN THE LAST 14 DAYS
