Anglo-Indian panel meets Union law minister over representation issue
LUCKNOW : National representatives of the Anglo-Indian community from across the country met the union law and justice minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad at his office in New Delhi on Tuesday and handed him a memorandum seeking reconsideration and continuance of the representation of the Anglo-Indian Community in Parliament and state legislative assemblies under Article 334 (b) of the Constitution of India.
The delegation consisted of representatives of the community from states and organisations across India.
The delegation comprised of Denzil Godin, Anglo Indian MLA of UP, who had met defence minister Rajnath Singh and JP Nadda at New Delhi with memorandums fervently appealing for reconsideration and amending the Constitution to include Anglo-Indians for further ten years in the Parliament and 13 legislative assemblies across India. The meeting was fruitful and the minister acknowledged the contributions of the community and gave valuable information about how the community should proceed in this regard, said Denzil Godin.

The meeting was attended by Anglo-Indian leaders from 43 cities across 17 states of India. They represented all major Anglo-Indian organizations from across the country, heads of Anglo-Indian institutions, nominated MLAs, former members of Parliament, former MLAs, former officers of the armed forces, leading professionals, youth leaders, retired employees of the Railways and other government organisations and a large number of principals of Anglo-Indian schools.
