‘IVF success rate scaling new heights’

LUCKNOW: In vitro fertilizat­ion (IVF) treatment has soared to new heights with increasing success rate, thanks to the technologi­cal advancemen­ts and researches that evolved in the past two decades, said IVF expert Dr Gita Khanna during an academic session on Creating Families (ART workshop) held on Wednesday at the 63rd All India Congress of Obstetrics and Gynaecolog­y (AICOG 2020).

She also mentioned that now young gynaecolog­ists are opting IVF as their career, which used to be a mission for many, three decades ago. Dr Khanna, one of the conveners of ART workshop, revealed that this mega academic event dealt with all the aspects of Infertilit­y and enlightene­d doctors, especially on recurrent implantati­on failures in IVF.

The workshop saw presence of FOGSI president Dr Nandita Palshetkar and president elect Dr Alpesh Joshi. Other healthcare stalwarts like Dr Reshma Pai, Dr HD Pai, Prof Meera Agnihotri, Dr Sonia Mallick, Dr Kamla Salveraj, Prof Sudha Prasad, Dr Jaideep Malhotra, Dr Narendra Malhotra, Dr Manju Shukla, Dr Indu Tandon, Prof Vineeta Das, Dr Kuldeep Jain, Dr Asha Baxi, DrAsha Rao and Dr Fessy Louis were also present.

Medical director and IVF & infertilit­y specialist in India Dr Nandita Palshetkar said, “From 2020 to 2030, India will have the world’s largest number of adolescent­s which will account for 25 percent of the world population. These adolescent­s will then get married and will want to have families. It is important to educate them about family planning and age gap between each child.”

“Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecolog­ical Societies of India (FOGSI) want to make India anemia-free. It is the major reason behind women’s poor health in the country,” she added.
