Visitors take selfies with war machines

LUCKNOW: The display area-cumselfie point was the main attraction on first day of the Defence Expo 2020, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. The selfie point made near Hall 4 drew a large number of visitors who were seen taking selfies with a variety of defence equipment.

Though the first day was meant for the business meets, the display area attracted many curious delegates and other invitees. Visitors from the DRDO and other stakeholders were seen dropping in and clicking selfies with the equipments. “Purpose of the area is to inform visitors about the lives of the defence personnel. We have displayed equipment of all sorts, including dresses and other apparatus used by defense forces, so that people can come and have an idea how a defence personnel survives in the war field,” an official associated with defence and organisers, said.

Among the displayed equipment, the battle tank Arjun, named after an archer prince of Indian epic Mahabharat, was main attraction at the event. Visitors were seen climbing it up and clicking selfies with the war machine, developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

K9 Vajra, the South Korean self-propelled 155mm howitzer, was another crowd puller. People thronged at the killer machine, which weighs around 47 ton and can hit up to 30km. Similarly, people also gathered to see Akash Army Launcher.

Besides these, Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS), T90 tanks and other machines were displayed at the expo. People experienced the army outposts and clicked selfies at the bunkers.
