Prime minister to dedicate 34 projects to the nation
VARANASI : PM Narendra Modi will on Sunday attend several events at different places during his day-long visit to Kashi. He will start his visit by offering prayers at the Jagadguru Vishwacharya Shankar Ji temple at Jangamvadi matt here. He will also participate in Veer Shaiv Mahakumbh being celebrated to mark completion of 100 years of its gurukul at the matt. The PM will also dedicate to the nation 34 projects.
VARANASI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Sunday attend several events at different places during his day-long visit to Varanasi.
He will start his visit by offering prayers at the Jagadguru Vishwacharya Shankar Ji temple at Jangamvadi Math here. He will also participate in Veer Shaiv Mahakumbh being celebrated to mark completion of 100 years of its gurukul at the Math, said Navratan Rathi, Kashi region BJP spokesperson.
Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa will accompany the PM during his over- an-hour visit to the Math that has a large number of followers from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and several other states.
The PM will also also address the batuks studying scriptures and the Vedas at the gurukul. He would release a translated version of ‘Shri Siddhant Sikhamani Granth’ in 19 languages and also launch ‘Shri Siddhant Sikhamani Granth’ mobile app.
Modi would then go to Deendayal Upadhyay Smriti Sthal in Parao area on Chandauli-Varanasi border where he would dedicate the smriti sthal to the nation and unveil a 63-feet-tall statue of
Pt Deendayal Upadhyay.
The PM will also dedicate to the nation 34 projects that will include a 430-bed super-speciality government hospital at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and a 74-bed psychiatry hospital, also at the varsity. The super-speciality hospital, built at a cost of Rs 164 crore, will aid about 200 million people from seven neighbouring states and Nepal. Modi had laid the foundation of the facility in December 2016.
Modi would later flag off the Mahakaal Express through video link. The train will connect the three ‘jyotirling pilgrim centres’ of Varanasi, Ujjain and Omkareshwar. This will be the first overnight-journey private train in the country, government officials said.
The prime minister will then go to the Deendayal Upadhyay Trade Facilitation, about 15 km from the Smriti Shal, where he will participate in ‘Kashi Ek,
Roop Anek’ event, which will showcase crafts of Kashi.
He would provide solar lights and solar looms to weavers; electric chalk to potters; ‘dona pattal machine’ to craftswomen.
Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Sidharth Nath Singh said that around 5,000 people, including potters and weavers, will attend the event that will be addressed by the PM.
Modi will also dedicate to the nation developmental projects worth Rs 1,000 crore and lay foundation of projects worth Rs 200 crore, divisional commissioner Deepak Agarwal said.
ADG Zone Varanasi Brij Bhushan, who inspected the Deendayal Upadhyay Smriti Sthal, said, “Foolproof security arrangements have been made for the visit of the Prime Minister. Cops have also been deployed in the lanes and have been instructed to keep a strict vigil.”
