Varsity renamed as Chishti Languages University

LUCKNOW: The state cabinet on Tuesday approved a proposal to amend the Uttar Pradesh State Universiti­es Act 1973 to facilitate name change of the Khwaja Muinuddin Chishti Urdu, ArabiFarsi University, Lucknow.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath presided over the meeting of the cabinet that decided to rename the university as Khwaja Muinuddin Chishti Languages University, Lucknow.

An official spokesman said in addition to Urdu, Arabic and Persian, education was being imparted and research work being carried out in Hindi, Sanskrit, Pali, Prakrit and other Indian languages in the state. In addition to English, a need to impart education in French, German, Japanese and other languages had been felt and there was no university for languages in the state, hence this change.

RELIEF FOR TRADERS

The state cabinet on Tuesday approved a scheme for waiver of interest and penalty on the dues of various taxes pending till March 31, 2019. A large sum is due from different categories of traders under the provisions of UP Trade Tax Act 1948, Central Sales Tax Act 1956, Uttar Pradesh Entertainm­ent and Betting Tax Act 2007, UP Value Added Tax Act 2008 and UP Cable Television Network Rules 1997 Rules. The state cabinet has approved the scheme to waive the interest and penalty on the pending amount that the government hoped to realise after the waiver.

NOIDA BUILDING RULES

The state cabinet also approved a proposal to amend the NOIDA Building (seventh amendment) Rules 2010. An official spokesman said the state government had already formulated a policy to increase floor area ratio in the growing urban areas so as to reduce the pressure of urbanisati­on.

He said amended rules would allow uniform purchasabl­e FAR. As per decision, the factor for purchable FAR will be 0.60 for all categories.

The cabinet also approved UP Fundamenta­l Rules 56 (amendment) Bill 2020 to deny grace period of five years for getting full pension to employees seeking voluntary retirement.
