VARANASI : Sonbhadra district in-charge UP minister Dr Satish Chandra Dwivedi on Sunday said a probe would be conducted to check the veracity of the video that has gone viral in which district mining officer KK Rai is shown asking kin of the workers, who were killed in the stone quarry incident, to not register a case against the leaseholde­r.

The mining officer is also shown offering money for the same. In response to a query by media persons in Sonbhadra, the minister said he was aware of the video. “A probe is being conducted into the matter. If the officer concerned is found guilty, strict action would be ensured against him,” the minister said. Meanwhile, Rai denied making comment on the matter. District Magistrate S Rajlingam also said a probe would be carried out into the matter.

VARANASI : An FIR has been registered against leaseholde­r Suresh Kehari and two unidentifi­ed persons under Section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of Indian Penal Code following a complaint by a quarry mishap victim Chhote Lal’s brother Ramvichar.

Confirming filing of FIR, Obra police station officer inspector Shailesh Kumar Rai said the investigat­ion into the case was under way.

LUCKNOW : Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday expressed his condolence­s over the Chandauli boat mishap and the Sonbhadra stone quarry accident. He also announced an ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh each to families of those who lost their lives in these incidents. “The Chief Minister has expressed deepest condolence­s over the death of the people in Sonbhadra stone mine incident and Chandauli boat capsize incident,” the chief minister’s office (CMO) tweeted. The chief medical officer also stated that the state government will provide compensati­on to the families who have suffered a loss in both incidents.

“The government will give Rs 4 lakhs each to the kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to those injured in Sonbhadra stone mine incident. In Chandauli boat capsize incident, a compensati­on of Rs 4 lakh to be given to families of those who have lost their lives,” another tweet said.
