Man from Dubai isolated in Lko hospital

Isolation wards at Civil, Lok Bandhu, Balrampur, KGMU, RMLIMS hospitals and PGI

LUCKNOW: Health department has arranged isolation wards at district level hospitals across the state to cater to patients, particular­ly those with the symptoms of coronaviru­s.

In Lucknow, a 32-year-old man was isolated at Lok Bandhu hospital on Tuesday morning after a health team detected him suffering from high fever and chest pain on his arrival at the airport. A native of Faizabad, he had flown in from Dubai. “He had left India on February 5. In Dubai, he was unwell. On his arrival on Tuesday at the airport here, he was screened for coronaviru­s by the thermal scanner. His blood sample and swab from the neck was sent for lab test,” said Dr DS Negi, director of the hospital.

The man had back pain and fever on February 18, but he did not take any treatment.

Isolation wards have been made at Civil, Lok Bandhu, Balrampur, KGMU, RMLIMS, and PGI hospitals and two lab technician­s in each hospital have been trained on how to collect samples from suspected patients.

“We have about 300 people under surveillan­ce in the district and we are coordinati­ng with police department for tracking and monitoring of the people undersurve­illance.Thepersona­l protection kit for medical staff, N95 masks have been made available,” said chief medical officer of

Lucknow Dr Narendra Agrawal.

In other districts also, isolation wards have been made for suspected cases.

In Allahabad the isolation wards are at SRN Hospital, Tej bahadur Sapru and MLN (Colvin) hospital where 10 beds are

reserved at each hospital.

In Kanpur, the isolation wards are at Ursla hospital, LLR hospital, Kanshi Ram Trauma centre

and Infectious Disease Hospital. In Kanpur, six travellers are admitted, which includes two each from Italy, Iran and Japan.

The health department is also planning to take help of hotels and get list of the travellers coming from abroad.

Health teams will then visit these hotels and check health status of the travellers .

KGMU till now has tested 73 samples.
