Harshit’s brace helps LU win football tourney

LUCKNOW : Two goals by Harshit helped favourites Lucknow University win the Invitation­al Football Tournament, defeating Police New Boys by 2-0, at the Chowk Stadium here on Wednesday.

Harshit opened the account in the 28th minute, before scoring the second one in the 55th minute to complete the formality. Harshit was later named highest scorer of the tournament, whereas Amit Singh was given the best goalkeeper trophy. Police News Boys Club’s Hassan was named man-of-the-tournament.

FINE BOWLING

Fine bowling by Atif Sajid and Kritagya Singh helped favourites UP Timber Club beat Akhil Infra Cricket Club by four wickets to make it to the final of the 2nd Bansal Trophy, at the Northern Railway Stadium here on Wednesday.

Atif took 4/20 and Kritagya bagged 3/16 as Akhil Infra Cricket Club could make 122 in 33 overs while batting first after winning the toss. Vikas Deep struck highest 39, which came off 53 balls with the help of four hits to the fence.

In reply, UP timber even after losing three quick wickets for just 48 in 13.3 overs romped home in 36 overs, losing six wickets. Prabhnoor Singh made 59-ball 36 with the help of two boundaries.

Sarthak Bhardwaj smashed an unbeaten 100 in 98 balls with the help of 13 boundaries as Awadh Sky Sports Cricket Academy crushed BBD College by 115 runs in a C division league match here on Wednesday.
