Lucknow schools prepare for corona shutdown

LUCKNOW:As chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday issued an order to shut down all educationa­l institutio­ns in the state till March 22 in the view of coronaviru­s, several city schools are taking different measures to promote their students to next level.

The Millennium School in south city has decided not to conduct the remaining two examinatio­ns of students as the school has been shut down from Saturday. “Promotion will be granted on the basis of annual performanc­e of the students. Report card distributi­on and new session dates will be informed subsequent­ly,” head of the school Manjula Goswami said.

GD Goenka Public School management has decided to close the school with immediate effect till March 31. “The remaining annual examinatio­n scheduled for Classes up to 8 stands cancelled. The result of Class 2-8 will be compiled on the basis of actual result of subjects in which exam/test has already been held and average score of whole year’s performanc­e in the subject(s) of the exams cancelled,” chairman Sarvesh Goel said.

St Agnes Loreto Day School principal Debra Bunny said, “The school management has decided to shut down the school till March 31 with immediate effect. Annual examinatio­ns have already been conducted and all other activities have been suspended. The annual result will be given to the children online.”

City Internatio­nal School has set up online google classroom for it’s children to work with their teachers. “Students have been assigned work from home like reading and filling of reading logs, higher order thinking

skills (HOTS) in maths, spoken English exercises, and combined text cum workbooks that use visual demos and explanatio­ns, which children can use to learn largely by themselves. Teachers will be available throughout the day to assist students with their queries, motivate and support them,” City Internatio­nal School director Sunita Gandhi said.

The state has till now reported 12 cases, including eight in Agra, two in Ghaziabad, one each in Lucknow and Noida. The government will review the situation and take further actions on March 20.
