UP’s mobile app to help sportspersons soon
LUCKNOW:Leaping a step forward to ensure the proper implementation of the sports development across the state, the Uttar Pradesh Sports Directorate will soon have its own centralized mobile app, which would be inter linked with the apps at the district level.
The app, containing details of all activities of the sports development, including infrastructure, coaching, training schedule etc., would work as a bridge between sports officials and the sports persons.
“All former sports persons at the state level as well at the district level would be added on this app so that all sports activities, including coaching and training of the sportspersons at all stadiums could be monitored,” UP’s director sports, RP Singh said on Friday.
In fact, the idea of having sports directorate’s own mobile app came for discussion at the sports departments’ review meeting on Friday, where the state minister of sports (independent charge) Upendra Tewari and newly transferred principal secretary, sports, Kalpana Awasthi were also present along with other officials of the sports directorate.
“Presence of ex-sportspersons in the mobile group will help sportspersons learn from their experiences and even the younger generation can take suggestions from them also,” said Singh.
He, however, said that all the district and regional sports officers have also been asked to have a data bank of all sportspersons, including the former ones, so that a regular communication could be done with them. “The suggestions of the ex-sportspersons even at the district level would be quite helpful for the young sportspersons and for that we need to have the details of every sportspersons, including their phone numbers, address etc.,” said Singh.
“The meeting also decided to let everyone know about the sporting facilities etc., in all districts. This will also include the private sports facilities like grounds, infrastructure etc. and the entire details would be made available to the common man on the website of the sports directorate soon,” he added.
“It’s our responsibility to have the details of each and every sporting infrastructure on our website. At least this will keep people update with the existing facilities in their areas even if it is of a private school, college, university etc.”
Besides other issues about the development of sports in the state, the meeting also emphasized the need of early formation of ‘sports promotion committees’ in each and every district over the next one month.
