AGRA:Four of a family, back home after being cured of coronavirus disease are waiting for the two other members to celebrate a belated Holi.

Six members of this family were in the isolation ward at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi fighting corona virus when the rest of the country was playing Holi. Four of them are now fully fit.

“I always purchased colour and other items for the family but was undergoing treatment in the isolation word at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi on Holi day. It was a dream for us to be with the family but finally I was back home on Saturday,” said a member of this family.

One member had tested negative when the sample was sent for reconfirmation to NIV Lab in Pune but this elderly person was advised to stay in the isolation ward in Delhi because of her age. Four of these six members returned to Agra on Saturday after their reports allowed them to be discharged.

Sharing the trauma and anxiety after being tested positive for corona virus in the beginning of this month, a member said, “For us, it was a usual business tour to Italy, as we are in footwear trade. My brother and brother-in-law returned on February 25 but I returned on March 1. My brother-in-law in Delhi had already tested positive and we were subjected to tests. Unfortunately six of us tested positive and were shifted to Delhi for treatment.”

“We were kept in separate rooms and our mobile phones were the only contact with the outside world and with each other. It appeared an unending agony but the treatment and care made life easy. We were not to move out of the room and none could visit us apart from doctors and nurses who gave medicines, checked temperature and noted blood pressure for 14 days before discharging four of us,” he said.

“Repeated tests were conducted before discharging us and I came to my house in Agra after

a month. Fortunately we all had no strong symptoms barring light irritation in throat which got cured in time. We got simple food in time and best of treatment was provided which made our return possible,” he said.

“My wife, being the only elder in the house in Agra took care of the family. I saw blue sky after 14 days of isolation on Saturday and thanked God for his mercy,” he said.

“It is best to cooperate with the doctors and follow advice. We are still asked to avoid gatherings and minimise outings. Four of us are back and my brother and his son will soon join us as they too are recovering. We are in the mood to celebrate this rare Holi, a belated one, with enthusiasm and are preparing for it,” said this man who defeated corona virus.
