Multiplexes, gyms and pools closed
Ensure localities are clean, minister directs municipal commissioners
LUCKNOW : The district administration on Sunday ordered closure of all cinema halls, multiplexes, clubs, gyms and swimming pools till March 31 in an effort to guard against coronavirus.
The state’s urban development department issued an advisory to all local bodies against mass gatherings.
Lucknow district magistrate Abhishek Prakash issued the order to close down cinema halls, multiplexes etc and said the order will be implemented with immediate effect.
State’s urban development minister Ashutosh Tandon ‘Gopal’ directed municipal commissioners and executive officers to supervise ‘mandatory ward-level checks’ along with sanitation staff and equipment so as to ensure that the localities were clean.
The urban development department has also tasked officers across the state to keep a watch on functions where large gatherings were expected.
“If the gathering is inevitable and the function can’t be postponed then the municipal authorities would need to ensure that the organisers are made aware of the dos and don’ts and they take precautions,” the minister said.
The minister said a major campaign to disinfect places of mass gatherings was being undertaken to contain the spread of coronavirus.
These steps would be complimented with a massive awareness campaign in each ward for which the government has cleared a budget of Rs 38.2 million (Rs 3.28 crore) for the municipal bodies, the minister said.
