Yogi directs ministers to visit districts, review situation

LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday directed ministers to visit districts to review measures taken by the state government for protection of people from coronaviru­s.

The ministers should also create awareness among people about the virus, he said at a meeting with ministers of state at his official residence here.

Addressing the ministers, who are in-charge of various districts for welfare and developmen­t schemes, Adityanath said they should visit the respective districts to review prevention and treatment measures.

The ministers should ensure that doctors and paramedica­l staff posted at hospitals were trained, he said, adding hospitals had kits to collect samples of suspected coronaviru­s patients.

He said a total of 1268 beds had been reserved for isolation wards, including 448 beds in government and private hospitals and 820 beds in district hospitals in 75 districts.

The ministers should tell people that coronaviru­s is an infectious disease and prevention is the treatment. People should remain alert to protect themselves from the disease, he said, adding that mass awareness was

being carried out through arogya mela organised across the state.

He said ministers visiting the districts on the Nepal border should review screening of people at checkposts.

The state government had already sounded an alert in districts located in the National Capital Region (NCR), he said. The ministers should also ensure that there was no mass gathering during their visits, he said and directed them to hold press conference­s after reviewing the situation. The ministers were also directed to review relief measures launched in districts to assist farmers whose crop had been destroyed in the recent hailstorm. The ministers should asses the loss and ensure that the affected people get compensati­on announced by the state government, he said.
