ENFORCE LOCKDOWN, SAYS PM
NEW DELHI : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said many people are not taking the restrictions imposed in view of the coronavirus pandemic and urged state governments to ensure that rules and regulations of the lockdown are enforced. “Many people are still not taking the lockdown seriously. Please save yourself, save your family, follow the instructions seriously. I request state governments to ensure rules and laws are followed,” Modi tweeted.
NEWDELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday urged people to stay indoors while ruing many were not still taking the lockdowns imposed across the country to prevent the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic seriously.
He appealed to the people to save their family members and themselves by strictly adhering to the directions being given by the state and central governments to deal with the situation. Modi requested the state governments to ensure the people adhere to the restrictions imposed.
The Prime Minister’s appeal came as several states like Punjab ordered curfews and issued strict orders to ensure people stayed as much indoors as possible to reduce the chances of the spread of the virus.
He held interactions with representatives of sectors like banking, finance, hospitality, tourism, infrastructure and media via video conferencing . “Government and industry are conscious about informal sector’s well-being. Industry leaders highlighted steps towards maintaining supply lines of essential items and medical equipment,’’ Modi tweeted.
In his interaction with representatives of TV channels, Modi discussed the emerging challenges in light of the spread of Covid-19. He appreciated the role played by the channels in spreading awareness about the pandemic. Modi commended the dedication and commitment of reporters, video journalists and technicians working in the field and in newsrooms across the country. Modi called their work service to the nation. He praised innovative ideas of some channels like making anchoring from home.
