CM flags off 66 fire tenders for sanitisation work

LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off 66 fire tenders for as many tehsils across the state on Wednesday. These fire tenders will be used for sanitisation to check the spread of the coronavirus.
“Out of 350 tehsils in the state, half had no fire tender. In the last three years, we have made fire tenders available in a phased manner. Now, only 130 tehsils are left,” the chief minister said.
“I am happy that fire tenders will carry out sanitisation work. Today, 66 new fire tenders with state-of-the-art equipment are being added to the fleet. They will immediately begin the task of eradicating the virus through sanitisation,” he said.
“In a phased manner, we will provide fire tenders in the remaining tehsils,” he said.
Besides, protecting common man from fire incidents due to rising temperature in summer, fire tenders will also be deployed wherever necessary for sanitisation work during and after the lockdown to fight Covid-19, he said.
“Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the lockdown process is being successfully carried forward with the participation of the people to defeat the coronavirus,” the chief minister said.

municipal bodies and gram panchayats are already working,” he added.
Fire tenders will spray sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) which releases chlorine that kills virus in the air. Sodium ions make solid surfaces acidic for longer duration to prevent growth of virus.
₹30 CRORE SANCTIONED
The government has sanctioned Rs 30 crore out of which Rs 20 crore is being used for placing orders for 95 fire tenders.
Rs 10 crore (approx) is being used for purchase of: Hydraulic combi tools, thermal imaging camera, hand control high pressure branch, breathing apparatus, chemical suit and pneumatic air lifting system.
All these equipment will be dispatched to the field staff.
All the vehicles will be used by DM/ SSP/ municipal commissioners for sanitisation work.
As many as 890 fire brigade vehicles are already in the field.
