LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) chief executive officer (CEO) Awanish Kumar Awasthi reviewed construction work on the Bundelkhand Expressway through video conference with officials on Saturday. Work on the expressway had resumed on April 20 after the graded easing of curbs began.

The four-lane access controlled expressway will link the backward areas of Bundelkhand region with the national capital. The government plans to open the expressway for traffic in 2022.

During the video conference, Awasthi discussed the position of electricity distribution lines and power stations on the expressway with Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (DVVNL) officials.

Director, DVVNL, Soumya Agarwal said all works, except the shifting of 33 KV electricity line, had been completed. About six 11 KV electricity lines, one low-tension line, three small transformers and 30 electricity poles were removed to facilitate the construction work.

On the other hand, around 100 electricity poles were installed on the expressway in Etawah district. The remaining works in Etawah, Auraiyya and Dibyapur would be completed by the first week of June, she said.

UP Power Transmission Corporation Ltd (UPPTCL) managing director Senthil Pandian said the tender for shifting electricity lines had be floated and work will start soon. The 296.07 km long expressway will start from Bharatkoop in Chitrakoot and pass through Banda, Hamirpur, Jalaun and Auraiya districts. The e-way will connect with the LucknowAgra e-way near NH 91 at Kudrail village.
