RECOVERY RATE IN UTTAR PRADESH 51.9%

Number of active cases down to 1,735 from the previous day’s 1,800

LUCKNOW: The recovery rate of Covid-19 patients in Uttar Pradesh stood at 51.9% as the number of active coronaviru­s cases in the state went down to 1,735 on Sunday from the previous day’s 1,800, according to official data. Neverthele­ss, 102 more people tested positive across the state during the day, taking the overall tally of Covid-19 cases to 3,467, the same data showed. The overall tally includes the active cases, the number of those discharged till now (1,635) and those who have succumbed. In the last 24 hours, a total of four deaths were reported from Agra and Meerut. The state’s death toll now stands at 79.

In the last 24 hours, a total of four deaths were reported from Agra and Meerut.

The state’s death toll now stands at 79, including one each from Prayagraj, Basti, Varanasi, Shravasti, Bulandshah­r, Etah, Kanpur Dehat, Amroha, Mainpuri, Bijnor, Bareilly, two from Lucknow, two from GB Nagar, three from Aligarh, four from Mathura, two from Ghaziabad, two from Jhansi, 13 from Meerut, four from Firozabad, six from Kanpur, seven from Moradabad and 24 from Agra, said Dr Vikasendu Agrawal, state surveillan­ce officer.

Earlier, principal secretary, health and family welfare, said 4,861 samples were tested on Saturday. A pool test of 273 samples was conducted on Sunday, h e said. To strengthen the fight against coronaviru­s, an Electronic Covid Care Support (ECCS) network had been establishe­d, he said.

Through this system, medical advice will be provided to Covid and non-Covid hospitals and doctors. He said if doctors in any hospital do not know the symptoms of Covid-19, and they do not have sufficient expert knowledge of treatment, they can contact the ECCS team for advice. Doctors and other health workers in hospitals, from level one to level three, can also seek expert advice if they need it, he said. For this, the divisional level hospitals will play the role of mentors, he added.

According to the data from the health department, 72 of UP’s 75 districts have reported Covid-19 cases till now.

The list of these districts and their number of cases includes Agra (756), Lucknow (250), Ghaziabad (141), Noida (226), Lakhimpur Kheri (4), Kanpur (301), Pilibhit (4), Moradabad (126), Shamli (31), Jaunpur (9), Baghpat (21), Meerut (242), Bareilly (11), Bulandshah­r (69), Basti (38), Hapur (56), Ghazipur (7), Azamgarh (9), Firozabad (193), Hardoi (2), Pratapgarh (12), Saharanpur (204), Shahjahanp­ur (1), Banda (20), Maharajgan­j (7) and Hathras (9). The list also includes Rae Bareli (48), Auraiyya (31), Barabanki (2), Etawah (3), Unnao (5), Kannauj (8), Kanpur Dehat (3), Amethi (6), Gorakhpur (4) Chitrakoot (6) and others.
