A ray of hope for non-corona patients: SSL-BHU

VARANASI:Giving a ray of hope to non-corona patients who are having a harrowing time at several places across the state amid Covid-19 pandemic, emergency unit and trauma centre of Sir Sunder Lal (SSL) Hospital, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, are attending to 40-50 patients who report here daily on an average, says public relations officer, BHU, Dr Rajesh Singh.

If any of these patients show corona-like symptoms, they are admitted to the isolation ward and their samples are taken for testing, he says, adding in the meantime their treatment continues.

In addition to it, emergency surgeries relating to various ailments are also taking at the hospital, Dr Singh adds. In addition to these services, telemedici­ne OPD is also functionin­g at SSL hospital.

Singh says apart from this, telemedici­ne OPD functional at the SSL. Experts of general medicine, general surgery, paediatric­s, gynaecolog­y, orthopaedi­cs, neurology cardiology, gastroente­rology, nephrology, urology, ENT, endocrinol­ogy, and dental sciences take on an average 250300 calls of the patients at the virtual OPD daily.

The numbers of the doctors are posted on the twitter account of BHU PRO daily and they are also circulated among the public through print media.

Meanwhile, Varanasi chief medical officer Dr VB Singh said all private hospitals in the district were given clear cut instructio­ns to attend to the patients approachin­g them and follow preventive steps.
