Covid hosps to be set up in dental, engg colleges
LUCKNOW :The state government has decided to establish level-1 Covid hospitals in nursing, dental and engineering colleges.
Additional chief secretary, home, Awanish Kumar Awasthi and principal secretary, health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad gave this information at a press conference here on Sunday.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath also directed officials to prepare a work plan to increase the number of hospital beds, the officers said. The government had already arranged 53,000 beds for patients in Covid hospitals, they added.
Emergency services in all hospitals will run in accordance with state health department protocols, they said. Officers were directed to launch an intensive sanitisation drive in red and orange zone districts, besides a cleanliness campaign in all the 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh, they said. They were also asked to maintain a supply chain of essential items. The administration in various districts surveyed 8.78 lakh houses and 49 lakh people residing in 467 hotspots, the officials said. As many as 2028 coronavirus positive cases were detected in these hotspots.
The administration detained 2,931 Tablighi Jamaat members in a month-long drive launched in 20 districts. Among them, 2,670 people associated with the Tablighi Jamaat were quarantined, including 325 Jamaatis of foreign origin. Forty-five FIRs were lodged and 259 passports seized, the officers said.
To intensify fight against the coronavirus, the state government has decided to test up to 10,000 samples daily, the two senior officials said. At present, around 4,500–5,000 samples were tested in UP in laboratories run by the central government, state health department, state-run medical colleges, state animal husbandry department and other government departments.
