Three migrants die in mishaps

PRAYAGRAJ/LUCKNOW: Three Biharbound migrant workers were killed in separate mishaps in Prayagraj and Lucknow.

Two labourers were killed when their motorcycle was hit by a container on Prayagraj-Varanasi highway in Hanumangan­j area of trans-Ganga on Sunday morning.

Police said the two were working at a constructi­on site in Ghaziabad, were on way to their native place, Madhepura in Bihar when a container, laden with LPG cylinders, hit their motorcycle, killing them on the spot.

Their two friends on another bike also received minor injuries in the incident.

According to reports, the deceased were identified as Amrish, 30 and Raju, 26.

Their injured friends - Rakesh and Prabhash - said they used to work at constructi­on sites in Ghaziabad and decided to return home on bikes after they ran out of cash.

They had left for Bihar on May 9 and had reached Hanumangan­j when the container hit their bike. Sarai Inayat police said the driver

of the container had been arrested.

Meanwhile, a 26-year-old Bihar youth, who was on his way home from Delhi along with eight others, was run over by a car on Shaheed Path in Lucknow on Saturday morning. The police identified the vehicle and booked the owner.

The deceased, Sageer Ansari, a tailor, and his eight friends had left for Bihar from Delhi on bicycles on May 6.

“The group was resting at Shaheed Path in the wee hours on Saturday when a car hit Ansari. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead,” said an official.

“One Ashok Singh was taking his daughter to the SGPGIMS in his car for a medical examinatio­n when the front tyre of the vehicle burst due to which he lost control of his car and ran over Sageer. An FIR has been lodged,” said Raees Akhtar, DCP (South).
