THERE IS A SILVER LINING TOO

-

ALL’S NOT BAD NEWS!

There is a silver lining to the dark cloud. Things will come back on track sooner or later. According to head of department of medieval and modern history, Allahabad University Prof Yogeshwar Tiwari, in 1918, a disastrous Spanish flu had struck the world and in erstwhile Allahabad, now Prayagraj, more than 6,000 people succumbed to the scourge.

“Uncle, brother and daughter of Mahakavi Nirala, as described by him in his biography, had died in that pandemic. But yet the show goes on and so does life. It was around the same time that when the country was down with Spanish flu, that Jalianwala Bagh happened in 1919 followed by Mahatama Gandhi giving a call for non-cooperation movement in 1920 and every Indian participated,” he said.

As per the academician, nothing stops in this world and history is proof of it. “This time also things would slowly get back to normal. The once Oxford of East would again resume functioning. Yes starting afresh would require major changes,” he added.

HC WORKING AFFECTED

Allahabad high court, which has a rich legacy of vital judgments over the years to its credit, was closed from March 19 to 21 after one of its employees fell ill. The closure was extended as the lockdown period was extended. During this period, only cases of utmost urgency were being listed for hearing before court and for this, special benches have been formed.

It is most likely that whenever the court will reopen, fresh guidelines will be issued to ensure social distancing to check spread of Covid-19 on the court campus.
