Phase brought out the hidden strength of doc, mother & wife!

- DR SONIA DHAMI Pathologist, Lucknow

The testing times of Covid19 has brought out my hidden strengths. Juggling the three roles was always a difficult task but as they say pressure brings the best out of you.

‘Late to bed and early to rise’ — while the virus makes me enter my bed late at night, my two little daughters make sure I am never late in the mornings to face the next day with same zeal and zest. The mother in me is out in the open making sure that all the things are in place for my twins as their day unfolds.

Nowadays, the breakfast is the only time where the family sits together to share a few thoughts. The knives and forks are down and out! The doctor within me comes out with ‘white coat’ and ‘stethoscope’.

Drive to the hospital is the only time where some nice soothing songs on radio make me nostalgic about the good times before Covid-19. As I arrive at my destination, the hospital building stands tall in front of me to welcome me as I gear up for my duties.

As the evening commences,

I head back home and finally the wife in me takes charge. This avatar comes out with full ‘josh’ and sweeps through all the work pending without a grimace. A small chef also sometimes peeks through and does the bit needed.

Some happy news of mother nature healing and some social interactions with close friends and extended family make you feel that the virus has also done us some good.

Though juggling through the triple role in a day is never easy but then a small voice in my head says ‘nothing lasts forever…not even a virus’.
