LUCKNOW : Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday asked district magistrates and district police chiefs to set up a team in every police station area to ensure that no migrant labourer walked or used cycle to travel back home in Uttar Pradesh.

The chief minister said food and water should be provided to the migrants as soon as they enter the state and added that they should be medically screened and arrangements for a vehicle to send them to their respective destinations should be made if they are found fit. Reviewing the lockdown situation with his Team-11, Yogi said the state government was sensitive towards the problems of migrant labourers and all officers and employees should try to help them in ensuring that they reached their destinations. He said no laxity in this regard would be tolerated.

He said DGPs of all states should be contacted and a request made to them to ensure that no migrant labourer travelled by trucks or any other unsafe vehicle. He said strict action should be taken against those carrying them by truck or any other unsafe vehicle. He said arrangement of buses should be made to carry those reaching the state by train from different states. Yogi said if UPSRTC buses were not available, DMs should use private buses for the purpose. He said drivers of the buses should also be given protective equipment.

The CM said trains in sufficient number should be allowed to run to carry migrant labourers from Delhi/NCR. He said quarantine centres should be kept clean and use of liquor should not be allowed there. The CM said emergency services and other activities like medical operations should be started in government and private hospitals, except OPD services.
