Three health workers among nine fresh cases in Lucknow

LUCKNOW: A doctor, a nurse and a ward boy posted at RSM Hospital at Sadamau in Lucknow’s Bakshi Ka Talab, along with an ambulance driver, were among nine fresh coronaviru­s cases reported here on Sunday.

With this, the total number of health workers found infected with the Covid-19 disease in Lucknow has reached six since the pandemic began.

Among the nine fresh cases reported on Sunday were two migrants, including a woman teacher who returned to Lucknow from Pune.

Two more patients from Kaiserbagh Sabzi Mandi area and one from Maulviganj also tested positive. Their tests were conducted by a private lab, which has been authorized to do so.

Till now, eight migrant workers have been found infected with Sars-Cov-2 pathogen in the state capital.

Earlier a resident doctor, a staff nurse of King George’s Medical University (KGMU), and a nurse working at a private hospital had also tested positive in the state capital.

Meanwhile, health teams collected 239 samples from suspected cases, said a health department official. The samples were sent for tests to the KGMU.

For its party, the KGMU administra­tion has decided to test the medical staff, who came in contact with a Covid-19 patient, after a gap of five days.

Till then, they shall remain in active quarantine and medical observatio­n.

On Saturday, a resident doctor and a ward boy had come in contact with a coronaviru­s positive patient who had entered the trauma centre’s surgery ward.

He was advised to go to the triage area, but he entered the surgery ward of the trauma centre. By the time the medical staff caught up with him, he had reached the ward.
