Yogi thanks PM, FM for economic package

LUCKNOW Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the central government’s economic package to make the country self-reliant.

He said that the package will give a new momentum to the country’s economy, which will not only make India a superpower but will help the country win the fight against coronaviru­s.

“The states had been demanding an increase in borrowing limit under the FRBM (Fiscal Responsibi­lity and Budget Management) Act. The limit has been increased from 3% to 5% of gross state domestic product (GSDP) and this is a welcome step. This will help the states to borrow accordingl­y to meet their needs,” said Yogi in a statement on Sitharaman’s announceme­nts on Sunday.

Yogi said through these packages, the country will be able to become self-sufficient and selfrelian­t.

He said the Prime Minister’s relief package paves the way for every citizen to have access to the facilities of government and ensure their self-reliance.

The chief minister said arrangemen­ts have been made to provide free ration to 80 crore people of the country under the comprehens­ive action plan that has been announced for migrant workers.

He said that till now 18 crore people have been provided free ration thrice in Uttar Pradesh.

Apart from this, task of creation of jobs has started in the state and industries in the MSME sector have resumed operations in which jobs are being provided.

He further said that through MNREGA, 30 lakh people are being provided employment every day. A provision of Rs 40 thousand crore has been made for this.

He when the corona crisis began, we did not have enough facilities, but at present 26 labs are functional in Uttar Pradesh. So far 1.75 lakh tests have been done in the state.

Yogi said 26 PPE kit production units have been establishe­d in UP alone. Sanitizers are being delivered from Uttar Pradesh to 28 states.

He said schools and colleges are closed during the lockdown. During this time, a platform for online education has been made available for students.

The government has launched 12 channels for online education.

Uttar Pradesh has adopted this platform.
