Lockdown in Lucknow

- SUSMITA CHANDA Communication Officer, Finish Societyw

one of us ever thought that a crisis like this will happen and our lives will be on a pause button for months.

It was just three days of my shifting when the lockdown was announced. It has been very difficult being alone that to in a new place. And then life started giving me lessons. Things seem to be going in a reverse mode. Freedom, development, accessibility all at halt, the only thing contagious left was the noble corona virus. People are adapting more and more traditional methods, exploring their inner creativity, understanding their culture and traditions. And of course, binge watching web series, and re-run of shows like Ramayana or Mahabharata. Going to get groceries or to terrace was considered as the only outing.

I have recently joined an organisation based out of Lucknow. I was very sure and confident to give my best shot with a positive attitude. Juggling between the professional and personal life is a huge challenge, ‘Work From Home’ scenes!

While most of us got to live with our families and cook favourite meals, I was living a complete opposite life. At times it’s frustrating when everything is your own responsibility and you are just learning to manage. Valuing essentials in our life, giving time to our loved ones, following a routine for household chores, experimenting with foods and office work, attending video meetings, were all becoming part of my life. If anybody asks where I am, I said, ‘lock now in Lucknow.’ Being a Bengali I miss our traditional food and which to have some soon.

Though it has been tough on all, everybody has their own story. A story that will always be remembered...
